Juanita’s bread products face limited recall

20 May

You may not know what Dominguez Family Enterprises is, but you surely know the Juanita’s brand. Great chips. Great canned products, tortillas, spices. Great tacos at the Marketa on the Heights. DFE is a locally grown enterprise, which was doing annual sales of around $9 million back when I wrote about them for The Oregonian in 2001. Their brands dominate Mexican-food shelves at local stores, and around the region. Well, they had a little slip-up in failing to mention that some bakery products contained soy, wheat and whey (milk) — risky because they are potential allergens. Those foods are now subject to a recall. Very limited reach, fortunately.
