Hood River Saturday market has a new mini-donut vendor. Yum. …

Hood River Hops Fest this year is Oct. 2 (it’s always the first Saturday of October). If you want to take an active role in organizing, the next steering committee meeting is noon Wednesday, July 7, at Double Mountain Brewing. To volunteer or discuss sponsorship, contact Tracy Kaiser or call her at 541-399-6235 …

July is Oregon Craft Beer Month, and Full Sail Brewing will kick off its celebration by releasing another in its Brewer’s Share series of beers crafted by ancillary members of the team. Kristy Holsopple, a dedicated home brewer, has created “Dunkopple” a German Dunkles Lager with a northwest twist. It’s a dark, moderately hopped, malty brew. ABV 5.2% IBU 25. Join Holsopple to sample the brew at the Full Sail Tasting Room and Pub in Hood River, on Thursday, July 1, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Holsopple, by the way, is a member of an esteemed group of women beer loves called the Pink Boot Society. Funny what you learn on the way to the brewpub.

How’s your public speaking? Uh-oh. That bad? Well, you’re not alone. But there’s a solution: Toastmasters. Yep, you’ve heard of it, and now you can be part of it. Seriously, for a very minimal cost, you can learn and practice the skills that will vault you to the head of the class. 95% of people in business are horrible public speakers. Fearful. Disorganized. Looking for the exits. Credit Heidi Venture of The Next Door Inc. and John Burke, a local CPA, with organizing a new TM club. Meets at noon Fridays at The Next Door Inc., 212 Second St., Hood River. Just show up — they’ll help you from there.
