Wings Treasure Sale … pop-up store for a cause

6 Aug

For three days only, you can stock up on recycled treasures for the benefit of Wings!, the nonprofit dreamchild of Allyson Pate, which provides work, housing and life skills training for homeless young men age 18 to 23.

You’ll find the Wings! Treasure Sale in the space formerly occupied by the Movie Gallery, in the Cascade Plaza shopping center just west of Rite Aid.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, the sale of “treasures” donated by more than 30 different area families begins — with prices at double the sticker price.

From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, all prices are as listed. And on the last day, prices drop by half from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Lea Rachford and Karon Peterson have the place looking tickety-boo. You’ll find a ton of clothing, much of it still stylin’, and some of it — like the oversize checkered suit — perfect for your theater company’s costume shop, or your Halloween kit box.

Goodies range from exercise equipment to antique and collectible items, Adirondack lawn chairs, office equipment, furniture, several shelves of books (many titles of recent vintage), and several framed pieces of art that appear far too nice for the walls of a Motel 8.

In short, it’s a mega garage sale — without all the driving around.
