July 15-18 (maybe) — Hood River Ro Sham Throwdown Invitational, kiteboarding event, sandbar (view from Marina Park).A production of the Slider Project.

July 16-18 — Moth Madness Regatta, Cascade Locks. First race noon Friday, 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

July 16 — Toastmasters, The Next Door, Hood River. Noon, open to all.

July 17-18 — Relay For Life at the Hood River County Fairgrounds in Odell (not high school, as in past, due to construction there). It runs from 9 a.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.

July 17-18 — Gorge White House 100th anniversary celebration, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 2265 Highway 35, south of Hood River. Call 541-386-2828, or get information online .

July 17– Gorge Cup Windsurfing Race, Hood River Event Site.

July 17 — Christmas in July, Hood River Valley Adult Center, 2010 Sterling Place, Hood River. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., trees, tree stands, wreaths and other ornaments.

July 20 — Chamber Government Affairs breakfast, 7:30 a.m., Charburger, 4100 Westcliff Drive, Hood River. Speaker is Amanda Remington, Mid Columbia Economic Development District

July 28-31 — 2010 Hood River County Fair, 3020 Wy’east Road, south of Hood River near the community of Odell. Gates open at noon each day, carnival rides begin at 1 p.m. General admission is $6 per adult Wednesday-Friday, $10 per adult on Saturday, $2 for children aged 6-12, and children younger than 6, free. Wednesday is Family Day, admission is only $15 per car. Wednesday is also a special “Salute to the Troops.” Cowboy Poet Duane Nelson, and Bob Connolly and Foothill Diesel perform Thursday evening on the Park Stage, Grupo Super Escandalo will be there on Friday evening. On Saturday evening, headliner Terri Clark (Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist nominee) takes to the main stage. Musical performances are free with fair admission.

July 31 — Hood River Watershed Group’s Wildfire on Gnarl Ridge Tour, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meet at Cloud Cap on the North flank of Mt. Hood. Contact: Megan Saunders or Steve Stampfli, 541-386-6063. John Dodd, U.S. Forest Service Soil Scientist, and other U.S. Forest Service staff will lead a tour of the 2008 Gnarl Ridge burn area. Register with Hood River Community Education online or by calling 541-386-2055.

Aug 6-29 — Celebrate the Gorge Photography Exhibition, Columbia Arts, 3rd and Cascade. 55 images representing 22 photographers.

Aug. 7 – Jackson’s Ride the Gorge, a benefit for the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation.

Aug. 7-8 — Van Gogh Days, a celebration of the sunflower, at Rasmussen Farms, 3020 Thomsen Road, Pine Grove (Oregon 35 south to Fir Mountain, left to Thomsen, then south). Live music, quilt show, Mt. Hood Winery tastes, fresh summer produce. No dogs, please. For info, 541-386-4622 or 800-548-2243

Aug 11 — Party for the Arts, Springhouse Cellar, benefit for Columbia Arts, 7-10 p.m. Music from Ten Thirty, theater vignette fr0m “Controlling Interests,” art auction, great wines.

Aug. 12 — Hood River County Board of Commissioners, library levy discussion, Board Room, County Administration Building, State and 6th Street. 5:15 p.m.

Aug. 24 — Gorge Nonprofit Collaborative, brownbag lunch, Skyline Hospital, White Salmon. 12 to 1:30 p.m. Topic is social media. $10.

Aug.27 — Grove in the Gorge, 8-10:00 p.m., with DJ Mojo at Paris Fair Event Space, 315 Oak Street, 3rd Floor, in Hood River. $8 at the door. Tickets also available online.
