A blogger based in Richmond, Va. (River City?), recently visited Hood River, and had glowing things to say about several lodging and dining properties — Nora’s Table, Stonehedge, Celilo, 3 Rivers Grill — not to mention other good stuff. …

The mountain biking community is having a good chat about the recent proposal by Timberline Lodge to develop downhill biking trails. Love it when that segment of the enviro community blessed with an objective gene and an iota of perspective start to see the illogic in the knee-jerk reactions of their putative official banner-carriers. It’s never all black and white.

For businesses that depend a bit on tourism — and those that depend on businesses that depend on tourism — it’s good to keep track of who’s saying what about our neighborhood, in other venues. Even if it’s yours truly. And this from a recent visitor to the Hood River Hotel (with which, in the interests of full disclosure, I have a working relationship). Blog on, brave world.

This weekend (June 10-11) is the Hood River Cherry Celebration along the Fruit Loop (tell your friends, and do it yourself). Also, for a change of pace (and place), drop in to the Event Site on the waterfront for the Kiteboarding 4 Cancer benefit. Kiting, and standup paddleboarding. Fun. And, it raised more than $63,000 last year for the global war on … cancer …
